This Gibson Heritage 80 was made in the USA in 1981. All of the parts are original although it has been refretted. We have gone back and forth on the finish with this one and can't say with any certainty if its original or not. That said, the greenburst finish appears to be factory as there are no sanding marks or blemishes where the binding meets the wood. Generally speaking, when Les Pauls are refinished it is pretty obvious as the binding either has to be taped off or removed and this guitar shows no signs of either. Rather, the finish is perfectly uniform, there are no signs of sanding, the serial# is visible and sharp, and the finish quality generally is perfect. On the other hand, there are remnants of red paint in the control cavity and the original hang tag lists the finish as “CSB” which would normally indicate Cherry Sunburst. Although we have seen other Gibson guitars from this period in Greenburst, including Les Pauls, SGs, and Explorers, we aren't 100% sure on the finish of this one. We emailed Gibson to ask if they could look it up by the serial number and they responded that while they did do Greenburst and Blueburst finishes they don’t have serial# specific records from this era. While the finish may be a bit of a mystery there is no question this is an incredible playing, sounding, and unique looking Les Paul. It comes with the original case.
